Speculation of Google Phone being dropped in second-half 2008 is spreading like wild cherries. I say speculation because Google still denies the release of an actual Google Phone unit. Instead they promise a platform called Android, which is supposed to revolutionize the cell phone industry with its open source applications.

We think the result will ultimately be a better and faster pace for innovation that will give mobile customers unforeseen applications and capabilities.”
